Royal Liverpool Golf Club

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club is a golf club in Wirral in Merseyside, England. It was founded in 1869 on what was then the racecourse of the Liverpool Hunt Club. It received the "Royal" designation in 1871 due to the patronage of the Duke of Connaught of the day, one of Queen Victoria's younger sons, Robert Chambers and George Morris (younger brother of Old Tom Morris) were commissioned to lay out the original course, which was extended to 18 holes in 1871. Harry Colt, one of the world's leading golf course architects, redesigned the course early in the 20th century, and it has since been tweaked periodically, mainly as a response to advances in equipment.

In 2024, The 152nd Open will be played July 14 – 21, 2024 in Scotland where Royal Troon Golf Club will host The Open, sometimes referred to as The British Open or The Open Championship. The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews has announced that The Open will be played over Royal Troon in 2024. This will mark the 101st year since the first time The Open was hosted at Royal Troon Golf Club in 1923. This will be the 152nd playing of the championship and the 10th time that Troon has hosted the world’s biggest and most popular golf event.
Royal Troon most recently staged The Open in 2016 when the Swede, Henrik Stenson defeated Phil Mickelson in their famous duel on the west coast of Scotland. Royal Troon has produced an illustrious list of Open Champions over the years which include Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer and Tom Weiskopf to name but a few.
