Copa America 2024

The Copa America, a premier tournament in senior men's soccer, serves as South America's ultimate stage to determine the continental champion. Originating as the South American Championship until 1967, it holds the distinction of being the oldest continental championship globally.

Panama, not a member of the South American football confederation CONMEBOL, has been a recurrent participant in the Copa America since 1993. This inclusion is a result of CONMEBOL's limited member associations, leading to the regular invitation of guest nations. Under the guidance of coach Thomas Christiansen, the Panama Copa America national football team has shown significant progress, and they are gearing up for another major international challenge at the Copa America 2024 in the United States. This tournament serves as a crucial dress rehearsal for the 2026 World Cup.

In the Copa America group stage draw, Panama finds itself in Pot 3 alongside Chile, Venezuela, and Paraguay. The draw will determine their opponents from Pot 1, which includes top-seeded teams such as Argentina, Mexico, the United States, or Brzil. Additionally, Panama will face tough competition from Pot 2, featuring teams like Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. This marks the second occasion in Panama's history participating in the Copa America, with their debut taking place during the Centenario Cup in 2016, also held in the USA.
