Red Bull Arena is a football stadium located in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. It is the largest football stadium in Eastern Germany, and has also hosted music concerts as well as football.
Opened in 2004, it is currently the home stadium for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, with FC Sachsen Leipzig having previously used the stadium from its opening until 2009. Due to UEFA sponsorship regulations, the stadium is known as the RB Arena for European matches.
In 1956, the first Zentralstadion opened, at the time it was one of the biggest stadiums in Europe being able to hold 100,000 spectators. Various Leipzig football teams used the venue as a home stadium, including VfB Leipzig at various points in the 20th century. However, over the years, it fell into disuse and was costing the city too.
The UEFA Europa Conference League, introduced in 2021, is a relatively new competition in European football. Designed as a third-tier tournament behind the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League, it provides an opportunity for mid-tier European clubs to compete on the continental stage. Despite being a fresh addition, it has quickly gained popularity, allowing clubs from less prominent leagues to achieve European success.
The first edition in 2021-22 saw AS Roma, under the management of José Mourinho, make history by becoming the inaugural champions. They defeated Feyenoord 1-0 in the final, held in Tirana, Albania, marking the Italian club’s first European title in decades. The 2022-23 season brought another memorable final, with West Ham United securing a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in Prague, Czech Republic. This triumph ended the English club’s 43-year wait for a major trophy. In 2023-24, AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands claimed the title, demonstrating the competitive nature of the tournament, with clubs from various nations making their mark on the European stage.
Several teams have already emerged as strong performers in the short history of the competition. AS Roma’s victory in the first season set a high standard, while West Ham United followed with a powerful showing the next year. Feyenoord and Fiorentina have also demonstrated their strength by reaching the finals, though they fell just short of claiming the trophy. AZ Alkmaar’s win in 2024 further illustrated the openness of the competition, where various clubs from across Europe have the potential to succeed.
The UEFA Conference League final 2026 will be the final match of the 2025–26 UEFA Conference League, the fifth season of Europe's tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the second season since it was renamed from the UEFA Europa Conference League to the UEFA Conference League. It will be played at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany, on 27 May 2026.
The winners will qualify to enter the league phase of the 2026–27 UEFA Europa League, unless they have already qualified for the Champions League or Europa League through their league performance (in which case the access list will be rebalanced).
